I think the best time in my music life was the ten years playing in the blues (and jazz) community in Glasgow, Scotland.

I learned everything there. The musicians were great people and helpful friends too. Supportive all the time. Void of bias, pretentiousness or judgment. Countless gigs and jam sessions etc... Not just in Glasgow but all over the UK and Ireland.

Incredible blues scene in Glasgow's west end. People I often got to jam with like Al Brown, Michael Deans jazz band, drummer Paul Mills, 'King King' guitarist and vocalist Alan Nimmo, blues guitarist Gary Miller, Rev Doc & The Congregation, Alan Gilbert, London drummer Ric Chandler, Glasgow drummers Davie Boyle and Dave MacDonald. Also 'Mafia' with Dougie Martin in Dundee.

I even once got to play 'Pick Up The Pieces' with Mafia and Alan Gorrie (the guy that wrote that song) from The Average White Band. Just before I left Scotland to return to my home town in Montreal I was in a band with Mary-Jean Lewis, the niece of legendary rocker Jerry Lee Lewis.

My father Bill Casey grew up in Scotland along side all those guys and jammed with some of them way back in the day. Dad opened up for The Kinks when he was just a teenager and his band was on a touring syndicate all over Scotland.

Dougie in 'Mafia' was a sweetheart and good friend and mentor to me. Dougie opened up for The Beatles and met Jimi Hendrix at the music pubs in London in the 60's

I will never forget playing blues with those good people.
